Export volumetric DICOM from your CBCT machine
You can define DICOM file parameters while exporting the scan via your CBCT software (like InvivoDental, Planmeca Romexis, Dolphin or similar). Below are our recommended settings.
a. single DICOM file i.file extension .dcm ii. file size >30MB
b. multi-file DICOM / set of single DICOM files (can be named differently depending on your software) i. file extension of each individual layer-file .dcm ii. file size of each individual layer-file <300KB; total folder size >30MB iii. please archive the folder into .zip format so that all layer-files will be included
2. Choose our recommended exporting parameters:
a. Field Of View (FOV) - 16x10cm or bigger b. Voxel Size - 0.3 mm c. Compression Level - uncompressed or lossless compressed |

Upload scan while adding new patient

NOTE: Supported file formats: .dcm, .zip | Maximum file size: 1GB for .dcm; 512MB for .zip
Panoramic and Lateral Ceph X-Rays must be uploaded separately.
Upload scan to existing patient

Re-upload scan to existing Patient
You can delete and upload other versions of DICOM file to existing patients in case of any mistakes made during an initial upload.
In the patient’s Radiographs tab, navigate to the last uploading window on the bottom of the page; it’s for CBCT
(1) Click delete button to remove an old scan > (2) click Browse Files to upload a new one > (3) click Save after uploading was successfully completed
Feature Utilization
In the LightPlan, click Root Vis button in the top navigation bar to toggle the roots on and off.
Roots are visible at both Initial and Final view. Animation is also supported.
As you move teeth, the roots will move along with the teeth.
FAQs
Creating Radiographs out of CBCT
At this time LightForce is unable to create other radiographic images out of CBCT scans, Panorex and Cephalometric images must be created and submitted separately. Panorex is require for LightForce treatment
Unsupported Scenarios & Known Issues
Cases where intraoral and CBCT scans were taken at different times with major clinical changes occurring in-between (e.g. tooth extraction, implant addition, primary tooth exfoliation, aligner or appliance treatment)
Staged and Mixed Dentition cases are not currently supported
Roots for canine substitution or any other tooth substitution - Currently roots are not supported for cases where there are tooth substitutions in the LightPlan
Artifacts on roots
Some roots may appear with extra artifacts based on the root segment. These will still be planned.
Misalignment between teeth and roots
Problematic roots will be removed from case by LightForce Technician, other roots will be considered during planning.
Missing root(s)
Some roots may fail to segment. Remaining roots will be considered in planning.
